MINGIE Walter
Walter Hamilton Mingie 1914
Here is the information about the photo: This is Walter Hamilton Mingie
taken in 1914. He was born in Norfolk, VA. He lived in Montreal after the
Civil War, probably moving there because he had been a friend, neighbor,
and supporter of General Lee and the Southern Cause. I am told he was asked
by Lee to be his chief of supplies, but I will have to do more investigation
on this. From the back of the photo, he fathered George, Roderick, Grace
Elizabeth (my grandmother), Eva Virginia, Walter James Ellis, and Frank
Hamilton. That is all I know about this photo. I have included a scan of
the reverse side as well since it contains so much handwritten information.
I hope someone finds this link to their heritage. It would mean we are
somewhat related. His daughter, Grace Elizabeth married my Grandfather,
William Charles Montignani and moved to Cumberland, Maryland where she
died in the flu epidemic of 1919. She was survived by 5 children.

I am looking for Sarah Bell Mingua in Bracken County, KY. She
was married to William Alexander Clark. I do not know who her parents
were and the only census I found her on, (I believe it to be her), is the
1880 Bracken County census. She was listed as a boarder living with
Daniel Carter.
Carter, Daniel age 50, born Ireland
Carter, Mary age 65 b. Kentucky
Mingee, S.B. female age 8 boarder born KY.
There was a John Mingee, age 4 and Lucinda Minguee, age 6 counted with James Gardner of Bracken County.
I am thinking that maybe these children are siblings, but I would like to more about their parents.
Cheryl Hopper, I need your address please

I'm trying to find out some information about an Ann Mingay who married
a
Christopher Hussey on December 9, 1658, in Hampton, N.H. It was
her second
marriage (her first to a Jeffery Mingay, who died earlier in 1658)
as well as
Christopher Hussey's second marriage. I'm wondering if they had
any children
from that union. Do you have any information regarding this?

I am researching the nam MINGUS. I have been told that my G grandfather
John W. MINGUS was born in Franklin Co. NC to Lawson and Sarah Buce MINGUS
(native of Franklin Co.). I have not been able to locate a Lawson as yet
and thought they may have changed the spelling. My Grandfather was
Clarence E. MINGUS born 17 Feb. 1884 in Guthrie Co. Ia. His father was
John W. and his mother was Margret HERRON. Margret and John divorced and
she went to Co. and my grandfather took care of her until she died. I know
John was a schoolmaster and have located them on the 1880 census in Orange
township, Guthrie Co. Ia. Some said John was born Mar. 31, 1848. Margret
and John had another son, William A. who had two daughters, Morene and
Helen. I believe that John married again and his wife my have been Verella.
John taught school in Ky and Mn. My father was Lowell MINGUS. Any
help on this line will be appreciated.

Your tombstone stands among the rest; Neglected
and alone.
The name and the date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who cares, It is
too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist, You died
and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you, In flesh,
in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse, Entirely
not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled One
hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left, Who would
have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved, I wonder
if you knew
That someday I would find this spot, And come
to visit you.
